Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

The short version

Fiqh has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We don't collect, store or sell your personal data. Your progress, notes and settings stay on your own phone.

Who we are

Fiqh ("we", "us") makes the Fiqh app for iPhone and Android and runs this website, fiqh.law. This policy covers both. If you have a question about it, email abajraktarevic@outlook.com.

What we collect

Nothing. We don't run servers that receive data from the app. There is no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind, in the app or on this website.

If that ever changes, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.

What stays on your phone

To work, the app saves a few things on your device only:

  • Your reading progress, daily goal, streak and the prayers you tick off
  • Last-read marks, favourite verses and your notes
  • Lessons you have finished
  • Your settings and the location you chose for prayer times
  • Recitations you download for offline listening

We can't see any of this. It never leaves your phone unless your phone's own backup (such as iCloud or Google backup) includes app data. Deleting the app deletes it.

Services the app connects to

To show prayer times, Quran text, recitations and news, the app asks these public services directly from your phone. Nothing goes through us.

Prayer times
Receives: The coordinates of the location you chose and your calculation settings.
Place search
Receives: The place name you type into the search box.
Place names
Receives: Your coordinates, to show the name of the town or city you are in.
Place names
Your phone's built-in geocoder (Apple or Google)
Receives: Coordinates or a place name, handled by your phone's operating system.
Quran text and translations
Receives: Which surah and which translations to load.
Recitations
Receives: Which surah and which reciter to play or download.
News
Receives: A request for Al Jazeera's public news feed and article pictures.

Like any website or app you connect to, these services also see your IP address and basic device information. Each has its own privacy policy, which applies to what they receive.

Your location

The app only uses your phone's location if you tap the location button and allow it. It is used to work out prayer times and the qibla direction, sent to the prayer-time and place-name services listed above, and saved on your phone. You can type a city instead, and you can turn location access off at any time in your phone's settings.

This website

fiqh.law sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers. Fonts are served from our own domain, so your browser doesn't contact Google or any other third party to show this page. Like every website, our hosting provider may keep short-lived server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to keep the site secure and running. See our Cookie Policy.

Children

Fiqh is suitable for all ages. Because we don't collect personal data from anyone, we don't knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct or delete your personal data. As we don't hold any, there is usually nothing for us to hand over or delete; the data on your phone is yours to remove at any time. You are still welcome to contact us, and you can contact the services listed above about the data they receive.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
